Product Highlights

Made in small batches from a native heirloom variety of groundnut, this wood-pressed oil is slowly cold-extracted and filtered just once to keep its natural golden colour and rich, nutty flavour. Nothing is added: no preservatives, no additives and no chemical solvents, just pure pressed groundnut oil. Its high smoke point makes it ideal for deep frying, roasting, sautéing and everyday cooking, or as a simple swap for your usual cooking oil. The sturdy 5L tin can keeps out light and is perfect for large households, regular cooks and stocking up. Natural sediment may settle at the bottom, which is normal for single-filtered oils. Store in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight.

Ingredients: Native variety of groundnuts (peanuts)

Allergens Note: Contains peanuts.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is this safe with a peanut allergy?

No. Groundnuts are peanuts, and this oil is unrefined, so it keeps the proteins an allergy reacts to. Highly refined peanut oils have those removed; this one does not. Anyone with a peanut allergy should avoid it, including shared pans and utensils.

What makes it different from supermarket groundnut oil?

It is pressed from a single native variety called Ghungroo, crushed slowly in a wooden press and filtered once rather than refined. Standard oils are solvent-extracted, bleached and deodorised, which strips the flavour along with the sediment.

What is it best used for?

Everyday frying, roasting and sautéing, and it handles deep frying comfortably. The flavour is mildly nutty rather than neutral, so it comes through in the finished dish — welcome in most savoury cooking, less so where you want the oil to disappear.

What does "certified glyphosate-free" mean?

Glyphosate is a widely used herbicide, and residues turn up in many conventionally grown crops. This oil is independently tested and certified free of it, which is a specific, verified claim rather than a general statement about farming.

Why is it cloudy, and why is there sediment?

Because it is single-filtered rather than refined. Fine particles from the nut settle out over time and the oil can cloud in a cold kitchen. Neither affects the oil — turn the bottle gently before pouring and it evens out.
