Product Highlights
Made from black mustard seeds sourced from farms across central and northern India, this cold-pressed oil is slowly extracted and filtered just once to keep its natural pungency, bold aroma and distinctive flavour. Nothing is added: no preservatives, no additives and no chemical solvents, just pure pressed mustard seed oil. Its sharp, punchy taste brings depth to curries, stir-fries, marinades, pickles and leafy greens. The sturdy 5L tin can keeps out light and is ideal for large households and regular cooks. Natural sediment and a slightly cloudy appearance are normal for single-filtered oils. Store in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight.
Ingredients: 100% black mustard seed oil
Allergens Note: Contains mustard.

Frequently Asked Questions
Does this contain mustard as an allergen?
Yes. It is pressed from black mustard seeds and nothing else. Mustard is one of the allergens that must be declared in the UK, so anyone with a mustard allergy should avoid it. The facility note about wheat, seeds and nuts is a separate matter.
Why does it smell so much stronger than other oils?
Black mustard seed contains compounds that produce that pungency when the seed is crushed. Cold pressing leaves them intact, where refining strips them out. The sharpness is a sign of an unrefined oil rather than anything wrong with the bottle.
What does "certified glyphosate-free" mean?
Glyphosate is a widely used herbicide, and residues turn up in many conventionally grown crops. This oil is independently tested and certified free of it, which is a specific, verified claim rather than a general statement about farming practice.
What does "single filtered" mean?
The oil passes through one filtration rather than the multiple refining stages used for supermarket oils. It stays closer to how it came out of the press, which is why the colour is deeper and the aroma stronger than a refined equivalent.
Why is it cloudy, or why is there sediment at the bottom?
Because it is filtered once rather than refined. Fine particles from the seed settle over time and the oil can cloud in a cold kitchen. Neither affects the oil — turn the bottle gently before pouring and it evens out.
