Frequently Asked Questions

What is Yeast Protein?

Yeast protein is derived from fermented nutritional/baker's yeast (a fungus - not dairy, soy or animal). It's a vegan protein source that naturally contains all 9 essential amino acids, giving it a nutrient profile comparable to whey.

What does ‘Naturally Complete Protein’ mean and why is this important?

A 'complete' protein contains all 9 essential amino acids your body can't make itself, in the right ratio to support muscle repair and daily function. Many plant proteins are missing one or more; yeast protein isn't - so it behaves like an animal-based protein would.

What is a Protein Digestibility Score and why would this matter?

It measures how well your body digests and absorbs a protein's amino acids, not just how much is on the label. Scored 0–1.0, with 1.0 the top mark. Millé's yeast protein scores 1.0 - the same rating as whey and egg.

Does heating the powder affect the protein content?

Heat can 'denature' protein - its structure unfolds, much like cooking an egg. This doesn't reduce the amount of protein or its amino acids, though it can change texture. Millé's cooking trials (80–180°C) showed it stayed stable in use.

Why is there less protein per serving in the flavoured versions?

Flavoured scoops (e.g. Coffee Hazelnut) include cocoa, coffee and natural sweeteners like date powder alongside the protein, so each scoop is shared between more ingredients - giving ~25g protein vs ~31g in the unflavoured version.
