Why does oil sit on top, and do I need to stir it?

Yes, stir it in. Without added stabilisers the natural peanut oil separates and rises, which is a sign nothing has been added to hold it together. The pack is made to reduce this, but some separation is normal — stir once and keep it in the fridge afterwards to slow it down.

Is it sweetened or salted at all?
